You'll never get what you want!

The trouble with personal goal setting or aims, desires, hopes is that we see the thing we want in our minds eye for momentary glimpses throughout our day, then we forget far too often, we lose faith and bring doubt into the mix when the goal does not materialise quick enough. If you want to achieve something you have to be prepared for long periods of faith, determined thinking and committed focus to that thinking.

Know thy self.

Alignment with our true self and honouring our core values are a powerful combination when aiming at our hopes and dreams. Indeed, I do not think there is much can stop anyone achieving their desires so long as they have taken time to know self. Once a true knowledge of self is attained all the power in the Universe comes to ones aid including faith, self belief, persistence, determination, commitment and an all consuming passion to get things done.

Mind matters first.

There are many qualities required to assist us on a pathway to our desired successes and there is no denying that perseverance is one of them. Perseverance can mean physical effort but for me the most important work to persevere with is our mental attitude, our thinking. Quite simply, if our thinking is in order the physical perseverance will take care of itself. Mind matters first.

Explore.

As an unexplored continent, most are afraid to go there, into mind, to be with one's own thoughts, to look closely and explore deeply, to know the extent of one's fears, hopes and dreams, the real power within. It is so much easier to keep company with external realities, to become a great  avoider of personal responsibility and remove focus from the real work of finding ourselves in the vastness of self. Today: have a look inside, look at what you're thinking, listen to the voice which dictates, quieten the voice with practice, become calm and insert the words of the new you, supportive and nourishing words of encouragement and love.

Self support.

I don't think people give themselves enough credit or encouragement for their achievements, large and small. The majority focus far too much on what they didn't achieve or what went wrong. Yes we have to take stock of our mistakes and learn from them but we must also let them go and concentrate our focus on what we are doing well. Encouraging ourselves from inside our own head is essential, we have to build our self support system and recognise our incredible strengths, powers and gifts, and give ourselves deserved praise on our amazing efforts.

Only 3%

It's certainly true that we may end up some place else if we don't aim anywhere specific. The trick to getting somewhere or something is to know what or where we want to be, do or have. So it makes sense to sit down and get particular about these aims/goals/desires. It is said that only 3% of people set goals and that the other 97% are helping them achieve their goals. If you want to take control of your destiny then start writing out your goals then get them vividly supported in imagination. You're now on your way into the goal setting percentage.
